Platform, filling a gap
a beginning that's yet to be shared from the author
I’ve inserted below the “channeling” is what I was told it is called. I was replying to a post as we’re all prone to do when someone’s words grab us and won’t let go. This story line though, I didn’t know then, where it came from but I do now It’s here, I’m supposed to let it have it’s say, first. There is so much more to share but this is how it starts. If you stay with the posts that follow, and it’s taking its time, you’ll find they challenge everything you’ve been taught…….up to now. I typed as fast as I could and though it needed a lot of spell check this is what came through. There was no editing, no cut and paste, only spell check.
The first landing: on a platform-From here is where it starts:
It happens where love starts but does not abide. The early days are full of promise, and two hearts can take the world by storm. It goes against tradition. It goes against fame. It goes against everything we’re taught to cherish. But love is not a respecter of boundaries set in place by a society that was led by one person’s idea. This is a beginning of a story that as I retell it the way it was given to me, I find it hard to believe myself.
I once watched a young lady arrive at a station. She seemed to be traveling alone. No one met her so I learned as the train left without her. She held her bag all that time. Never setting it down. She never left the platform and was always looking around as if she was waiting on someone. Another train came and went and still she waited, alone on that platform. A third train arrived and as people filtered out some with places to go, some with family or friends that met them, this young lady still stood. And last to get off the very back of the train was a very old man, stooped and frail looking, barely able to walk. Clothing all wrinkled and worn looking. He shuffled slowly down the platform toward the young woman, and I fully expected him to shuffle right by. She was focused the other way as he approached. But he quietly stopped just behind her and tentatively raised a hand. As he touched her shoulder, she turned startled and dropped her bag. I heard a squeal and saw her jump letting her feet leave the ground. She threw her arms around his neck almost toppling them both and she hugged him and cried, I saw the tears reflected by the sunshine. He slowly reached his arms around her and held her back and I could see the tears streaming down his face. Another train arrived, all noisy and fast and loads of people began to pass them and a most remarkable thing happened. The platform grew quiet and the people slowed and rather than pass they paused. They looked in wonder and stood in awe. No one knowing either of them it appeared but a reverence so pervasive filled the air and the world stopped and honored and smiled. Love knows no boundaries, no time, no space. It fills the air with a most precious grace. A Father’s Love for a daughter Lost.
A note handwritten: I’m on the train heading to where I know you are. I never gave up. I didn’t quit.
Life never said things were always fair, but life usually works it out in a single lifetime… and sometimes not. The strangely exciting part is that we ultimately never fail. We have a Creator who in his Infinite Wisdom allows us to find our own way home. This is how we learn.
-This is when it ended the first time-
